Interest In 855 Domain Names Heats Up As New 855 Toll Free Numbers Release Date Nears

One Internet Marketing Industry veteran believes that 855 domain names could be the next domain name rush as investors scoop up 855 domain names in anticipation of the planned launch of 855 toll free phone numbers on October 1st

Once thought of as a fad domain names continue to rise in value perhaps faster than any other commodity besides Gold.

Domain names are here to stay says Scott Alliy an Internet marketing veteran and owner of the new 855 domain name website 855domains.com.

What makes 855 domain names so valuable especially to Internet marketing and business consulting companies like his own firm is that they can be used to instantly double the effect of any marketing or ad campaign says Scott.

In effect says Scott by adding an 855 domain name reference in your print radio TV and even Internet ads you double your chances that consumers will remember and retain your message and call or visit your website.

The real beauty of owning one or more 855 domain names to compliment your toll free business phone number says Scott is that after the initial cash outlay the cost to retain and use and benefit from owning a good 855 domain is less than $10 a year.

According to Scott owning an 855 domain name relating to your business may be one of the best low cost marketing tools available for Brick and mortar or ecommerce business owners that he has ever seen.

Especially when you consider that for no additional cost per ad insertion or placement you can receive twice the ad benefit by using an 855 domain name in combination with your toll free 855 number.

And says Scott the 855 domain names or names that you acquire do not have to equate to a phone number. While it would be preferred to own the exact 855 word it is not necessary.

For example says Scott a business owner may acquire the 855 toll free number for the word my credit. Assuming the domain name 855mycredit is taken they can consider owning the domain name 855credit.com.

Scott encourage business owners to consider owning multiple 855 domain names to increase traffic to their website and protect their business space from competition. His company specializes in helping business select and locate one or more available 855 domain names relating to their business and marketing niche. Interested business owners that wish to capitalize on the best business building opportunity to come down the pike in years are encouraged to contact his office at (800) 712 5568 x3 for assistance and a no obligation consultation and business needs assessment.

Toll Free Number For Small Businesses

A toll free number may be described as a special kind of telephone number provided to business enterprises for communicating with its customers. Customers will be encouraged to frequently phone business houses as they will not be required to pay for calling the number.

Toll free numbers are usually referred to as 800 numbers. The number 800 is the original area code generally used with toll free numbers. However, with passage of time, more area code numbers like 888, 877, 866, and 855 are presently in vogue. Newer numbers such as 844, 833 and 822 are also being introduced.

In the US, toll free numbers are offered by Inter-exchange Carriers as well as Local Exchange Carriers. Unlike the local telephone numbers, toll free numbers are not based on geographic locations. A toll free number can be located in any part of the country, or even overseas.

Instead, the physical location of a number is ascertained by the telephone operator using an intelligent network mechanism. A toll free number is then converted into a normal geographic number and then routed in the usual way through the local telephone exchange.

Often, customers would want to seek certain clarifications before ordering for your products and services and having a toll free number will motivate them call you. A toll-free-number also boosts the image of your business enterprise.

There are some big advantages in providing a number for your customers. The most obvious benefit is that it provides a way for customers to contact your company without having to pay for the calls. Toll-free-number also gives your company a certain amount of credibility because it indicates to the prospective customer that you accord importance to customer service.

There could be certain demerits in having a number. This facility adds to your expenses and tempts people to make unnecessary phone calls. As customers do not pay, they may call more often than necessary, even if they have no intention of purchasing your product. This is especially true for companies marketing high-end product where customers and competitors will want to frequently make price comparisons.

It is a fact that some types of businesses can benefit richly from a number. For businesses that are involved in high volume sales via the internet or catalog mailings, a number is simply not dispensable. Toll-free-numbers are a real blessing for enterprises whose products require long-drawn negotiations with prospective buyers.

This numbers are available through a number of service providers. The contact particulars of these service providers can be found on the internet or through referrals from other similarly sized businesses. Whichever service provider you finally select should be able to provide you with the equipment you need to bring your number online. They should also be able to help you obtain an available number and direct your toll-free calls to specific extension of your choice.

If your business demands that you have to be away from your desk most of the time, having a number that directs calls to your cell phone will ensure that you never miss business calls.

Toll Free Number can benefit for your business in several additional ways. To learn more visit: RingCentral.com or VoIP Service Provider. There is also information here on 800 numbers for Business and non-business use.

Anatomy of a Vanity Number

Vanity numbers, also known as phone words in Australia and Japan, are the alphanumeric equivalents of phone numbers. Do you notice three to four letters that correspond to a number (1-abc, 2-def, and so on) in a phone's number pad? Basing on your own telephone number, you can choose carefully from these matching letters to form a word, part of a word, an acronym, abbreviation, or a combination of letters and numbers.

The purpose of doing this is to increase memorability. It also increases the rates of response in advertising. It is easier to remember a word or phrase than a set of numbers. So much more if these words can be correlated to your business or your name. They are proven to increase response rates by 30-60% and generate twice as many calls as a standard phone number.

In the United States, they have used these numbers in toll-free numbers for the past thirty years. These vanity numbers usually start with 1-800, 1-866, 1-877, or 1-888. The most popular is 1-800. A toll-free vanity number is much easier to remember because it spells something that relates to the business or individual. Examples are 1-800-PAINTS for a paint company or 1-800-PIZZA for pizza delivery.

Also available for these numbers are ones with call tracking. The tracking of these direct-response tools permits businesses to verify where their incoming call traffic comes from. Call tracking reports allow business owners and managers to put up a database of leads, access the demography on callers, scrutinize a wide range of call data, improve personnel allocation based on the calling patterns, study the results of campaign ads, and export data into added programs.

This information also helps in tweaking advertising plans and media budgets by providing meticulous reports on specific media buys, like radio, television, cable and outdoor media, among others.

The rise of the popularity of these vanity numbers gave an idea to companies to link these numbers to web pages of the same text. This permits them to zero in on phone and web users altogether. An example of this is the number 1-800-THRIFTY which consequently made the web page "http://www.1800thrifty.com". Following this, other companies are forced to join the bandwagon and pay many thousands or even up to a million dollars just to acquire the domains of the same text as their vanity number.

If you want to begin using 800 vanity numbers, contact a service provider online for a faster, more convenient transaction. Get a free vanity number that is connected to your personal and business names. There's no reason why you shouldn't take advantage of its benefits.

Incorporating a Toll-Free Number in Your Small Business

A toll-free number (TFN) is a fantastic way for a company to brand their name, create a level of comfort and goodwill with their customer base, and encourage people to call. Even as cell phones and national coverage from carriers become more prolific, there is a psychological effect to attaching a TFN to your company. Studies have shown that even if a person can make interstate calls without charge, he or she will be more inclined to call a business using a toll-free number. It implies a level of stability and reliability.

In this article, we'll explain a few factors you should consider when incorporating a TFN into your small business.

Be A Little Vain

Besides supporting a perception of stability, one of the best uses of a TFN is for branding purposes. For example, suppose you operate a nail salon that specializes in pedicures. You might brand your company with 800-TOENAIL. An eyeglass company might use 888-RETINAS. A small painting venture could use 877-PAINTER. Once you reserve your toll-free number, it can become an important component of your marketing. You can display it proudly on your business cards, letterhead, and print advertising campaigns.

A Portable Brand

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) mandated that TFNs must be portable. That is, they will be attached to your company even if you switch carriers or relocate. If you have reserved a branded number as described above, you will not risk losing it as long as you're willing to maintain the service. An ancillary benefit to this portability is that you can split up your local and long-distance calls between multiple carriers without needing to use multiple toll-free numbers.

Additional Features

New technology has expanded the list of features available to small businesses that use toll-free numbers. For example, you can block incoming calls from certain areas. You can also implement tracking in the event your company uses several TFNs. That would allow you to measure the response from multiple advertising campaigns.

Another useful feature is the ability to require callers to input a code in order to make the call without paying a charge. This might be valuable for companies who want to extend the service to their traveling employees (for example, so they can retrieve voicemails) or preferred clients.

A toll-free number can be a valuable asset to your small business for several reasons. It gives your audience confidence that your company is stable; it encourages them to contact you; and it's an effective marketing tool that can help brand your company. Of course, there is an additional cost to using a TFN. However, like most business expenses, you should consider it an investment that can help propel your company toward future growth.

Toll Free Numbers - What Are the Advantages of Having One?

For companies that are focused on high volume sales through the Internet or catalog mailings, a toll free number is a must. Toll free numbers are also highly advisable for businesses whose products require a significant amount of follow-up or technical assistance. Regardless of the particular type of business though, if a company is targeting customers on a nationwide scale then they really need a toll free number to 'disguise' their locality. The reason being that people prefer not to buy from companies outside of their state unless they are an established, national company.

Another benefit of toll free phone numbers is that they are portable, meaning that you can take the number with you if you move to a new office or rout calls to a different city if you want someone else to answer them instead of you or someone in your office. It really can be a number for life. Once you have it, the only way that you can lose is if you do not pay the annual subscription fee. Keeping the same phone number for years and years is a good idea because it increases the likelihood of you getting repeat orders from past customers, who have written down or saved the first phone number that they used to call you.

Toll free numbers are available through a number of service providers, who can be found on the Internet. Major communication providers also provide toll-free number service, however, as they usually sell to high volume clients, they usually charge small businesses a higher rate than service providers that specialize in lower call volumes. Whichever company that you choose should be able to take care of the whole set-up process for you, and not just simply sell you the number. They should help you obtain an available number and direct your toll free calls to the phone of your choosing.

Toll Free Numbers a Must During a Recession

In today's economy, businesses must adjust to the financial challenges of their customers. A recession puts businesses in a strange bind. Companies must find ways to sell ideas and products to people who need the products, but who are increasingly hesitant to spend their money. In times like these, one of the most reliable techniques is the use of a toll free number. Even though it is traditional and has been around for decades, there are good reasons why most major companies still employ a toll free number.

A toll free number provides a key service - giving customers a cost-free method to contact a company. Telephones were the primary method of communication until the internet. A phone number that customers could use to contact the company for free was key to business operations for years. Companies set up complex phone systems to service their customers. Despite some customer complaints about speaking to computers, it is a prevalent method of customer service. Other companies have set up call centers around the world. No matter the method, these still require one thing for success - a toll free number.

The initial barrier is the hardest for buyers to overcome. This is the mental or financial anguish that comes from going from spending nothing, to spending something. One is infinitely greater than zero. This is why many companies find success offering a low priced item to get customers "through the door," and making substantial profit on "extras." A toll free number creates a situation where there is no cost for customers to come through the door. Even though cell phones have free long distance, and some local rates are low, they are still greater than zero. Even the greatest call center or phone system is useless if customers do not call. Using a toll free number gives the least possible barrier to their entry.

A toll free number also has a secondary purpose of creating a corporate identity. Television ads and jingles often have, say, "1-800," and then a few words that identify the company. All this is due to the vanity 800 numbers used by many companies. Incorporating the number into the name of the company is also popular, and allows customers to easily remember contact information. Originally, these numbers had to start with the area code, "800." Companies made land-grabs, trying to register any number with the possible combination of numbers which could someday be used to form words. Then, if another company wanted that number, the owner could sell it at a high price. Today, the prefixes, "888", "877", and "866," all indicate a toll free number, allowing for more companies to get those sought-after vanity numbers.

Of course, there is a cost to having a toll free number. The call is free only for the customer. The cost for the call goes to the company that owns the number. However, the cost for telecommunications has dropped over time, and will likely be even cheaper in the future. Costs have dropped to the point that it is often cheaper to route calls across the globe than to have them answered in America. A toll free number is just part of doing business. Just like advertising and other methods to get a company's name out, allowing people to contact a company free of charge is necessary for a company's success.

Today, with the economy in a recession, buyers purchase less on impulse and research more significantly. The internet has become the primary tool for this sort of research. Web pages are run by virtually every major company to provide specific information on their products and services. However, there are still many times when a customer has a question that is not addressed on a particular website. There are online methods of communication, such as live chat or email. However, a toll free number is important because many customers prefer the sound of a human voice over typed words. Wary customers may wish to call just to know more about the company in general. This is why most sites come with the following phrase, "For more information or questions, please call 1-800..."

In short, a toll free number may not be the newest technology on the market, but it still has its importance in today's business world. With cell phones, practically everyone now has a telephone in their pocket. Businesses just need to give them someone to call. Toll Free Numbers and Start Up Businesses

If you are concerned about the accessibility of your business to different clients in this age of tight competition, the best way to reduce your concerns would be by taking the toll free number. Once you have the toll free number, no longer you have to worry if the customer will not place orders and will not communicate with you by phone because they do not want to spend their money. By taking the services of a number, you will get more accessibility to the clients all the time.

There has been a misconception that the toll free numbers are quite expensive. But they are actually affordable and the services are available for comparatively lesser prices. Since they are affordable, the playing field can be leveled with large business. The marketing strategy plays an important role in the success of any business firm. Image building and professionalism that you project would surely boost the success of your firm. Here the free numbers come for your help as they attract customers to your business by giving an air of professionalism. They also increase the customers confidence with the company in matters related to the security of financial transaction. Even if you are doing a home based business, it would help you to create a virtual office.

Most of the times companies would face geographical limitations while selling their goods and services. One of the greatest benefits of using a toll free number is that it provides an excellent option to sell your goods and services to those who cannot be reached otherwise. This extends the sales scope of your product. People would feel comfortable contacting you and they would not stick to the local business firms anymore. Customer service would also be excellent in this case. When a customer is having equations or concerns about a product or service, they would contact you without hesitation. Thus you would get an opportunity to build a relationship with the customer as well as give troubleshoot ideas. In the absence of such toll free numbers, you would not have received so many calls from customers.

If you have used toll free numbers, you would easily say that one of the most useful factors of such numbers is the portability nature. When you are moving your business from one place to another, you can always reach your customers without any troubles or interruption if you use a toll free number. There is yet another add-on benefit; you would be able to carry out the daily business activities as the toll free number allows forwarding the calls to your cell phone, pager, and email or even to your land line.

The package offered by the toll free services would also be economical. You can select a plan in which you only have to pay for the usage and the calls made to your number. Hence there would not be a huge bill if just a small number of calls come in. The charges would shoot up only if there is a vast increase in the number of calls. For small, start up business, this package would be a great relief.

Tracing the History of Toll Free Numbers

The history of toll free number began from the time when AT&T launched a new product called "interstate INWARD WATS" in 1967. To be precise, AT&T never had expected the product to become a huge success hence it cannot be said that they had actually launched the program. They never imagined the radical changes this product would bring to the world of business so fast. Basically AT&T introduced the "WATS" service as a solution to meet an anticipated shortage of telephone company operators. This was because the telephone operators were becoming stuffed with number of collect calls that were being received by the businesses on a daily basis. According to AT&T, the new service was a perfect solution for the telephone operators. However it only had a limited appeal.

It was almost like a fairytale happening that by 1992, only 25 short years of initial implementation, 40% of the calls on AT&T's long distance network became toll free calls. In the early years of its introduction, the toll free number calling was a novelty and had only a modest and slow growth. But with the creation of centralized databases within AT&T's network, explosive growth has been triggered for the toll free number during 1980s. The advantage of using such databases was that it offered business organizations to have a single toll free number nationwide. It was not required to have different numbers for each state. As days passed, the toll free numbers became a hot favorite and it was considered as a smart business to advertise a toll-free-number. Thus the early days of modest growth flourished into a fully fledged run almost overnight. Hence there created a notion that if companies want to business properly, they must have a toll-free number. Thus by late 1980s, getting a number had become mandatory for all the business enterprises.

With technological advancements, many facets of toll-free-numbers also emerged. In this age of globalization, the combination of web site and a number guarantees a truly successful and global storefront for the businesses. These days' businesses are utilizing the power of web with the ease of use and also the omnipresence of telephone also plays a vital role in growing the turnover. Here, It is the main catch. From its humble beginning as interstate "INWARD WATS", toll-free calling has reached popular heights. It has become an indispensable part of business life. The success of toll-free-numbers lies in the fact that it is useful for both business men and customers.

While considering the benefits of toll free numbers, there would be many to its credit. The most obvious benefit is that offers the customers a chance to keep in touch with business firm without causing any charges. The level of credibility is also given by toll free numbers as it tells the customers that the company considers customer service seriously. For companies that are into high volume sales using internet, the toll free calling would be a must. They would surely benefit from the services.

How Does a Toll Free Phone Number Work?

In this day and age, businesses are constantly looking for ways to get an edge over their competition. Many companies have found the use of a toll free number, commonly called an 800 number, is a simple yet extremely effective method of doing so. Callers aren't charged a fee for calling the number, and it creates an easy-to-remember way to provide diligent customer service 24 hours a day. If a toll free phone number is integrated properly into a business's everyday protocol, it can be a lucrative tool to attracting, pleasing and maintaining customers.

The concept of the toll free phone number is pretty easy to understand. While the name pretty much says it all, it's good to understand the basic logistics. A toll free phone number typically begins with a three-digit prefix, 800, 888, 877, or 866. Consumers are extremely familiar with these prefixes and will immediately associate them with a toll free number. The cost for any calls made to this number is charged to the business or person being called. This means a business with an 800 number in place will be able to offer service by phone nationally at no cost to their clients.

The basics of what these numbers are is easy to understand as is the process of acquiring one. First, a company must find a provider, sometimes also called a Responsible Organization. These organizations maintain a database containing toll free phone numbers that are available. Finding a provider is pretty easy. Your local phone company can provide you with a toll free phone number as can many online providers. Your budget and the features that you would like to have will determine who the best provider is for you. Most local phone companies can offer basic toll free phone numbers with forwarding while online providers offer a much more robust service, especially when integrated with a virtual pbx system. Both services are usually affordable and within a small business budget.

In some cases, companies may wish to receive a vanity 800 number. This sort of number uses the digits of the number to spell out the company name, an acronym or specific word. For example, a florist might choose 1-800-FLOWERS so the number can be easily remembered and recognized by customers and potential customers alike. Businesses often find these sorts of toll free phone numbers a useful marketing tool. The number is easy for consumers to remember, making it simple for them to pick up the phone and call anytime the associated service is necessary. When contacting a provider, a business will be able to see if the number they wish to have is available, and have it assigned to them if it is.

The FCC is the governing body over 800 numbers. One set of strict rules involves the hoarding and brokering of toll free phone numbers by a business. The restriction on hoarding means that a business can't reserve more numbers than it can use merely to keep them from being used by a competitor. Additionally, before activating their number, an business must be aware that it is considered unlawful by the FCC for them to sell that toll free phone number for a profit.

Subscribers who hoard and sell toll free phone numbers are subject to penalties. There is another ruling that the FCC has laid down that actually helps businesses using 800 numbers. That ruling states that because the business is paying for the call, they have a right to know who is calling. This means that the business will be able to capture the caller id of their callers even if they are blocked or unlisted. Many businesses take advantage of this for lead generation.

Once these steps have been taken, the number will be activated and a business will be able to receive calls. These calls, however, go through a much different process than just an average phone call. Most 800 number calls are long distance. So, when the number is initially dialed, a local exchange company contacts the SMS/800 Database to find the long distance company designated to handle the number's calls and transfers it. The long distance phone carrier then picks up the call and records the data necessary for billing before routing it to the connection. Toll Free Phone Numbers Now a Must Have on Ecommerce Websites

A toll free phone number is often overlooked by e-commerce websites because they feel as though having a website and email address set up is good enough. This is a huge mistake for these companies to make as customers are now demanding a more personal level of communication. Anyone who runs a website should now know that a toll free phone number is an extremely easy way to give customers an additional mode of communication, which is never a bad thing in the business world.

One major reason that a toll free phone number is a good thing for a business's website is because it immediately gives a company a more prestigious feel. Customers are now aware of the fact that anyone can set up a website in a matter of hours, but it takes a little bit more organization and commitment to have a toll free phone number. Because of this, customers will be drawn to companies that have one of these numbers, as it simply makes the company appear more legitimate. Even if the customer does not intend to use the number right then, it is comforting to know that it is available should any problems arise over the course of the transaction.

Another benefit of having a toll free phone number is that the company will have the ability to encourage customers from all over the country to contact them. This would be much more difficult if the company was using a regular local number because no customer wants to pay for a long distance call. This is especially true when he or she is also going to have to pay for the transaction anyway, so limiting costs on the call is important. Having an 800 number simply gives the customer a better feeling about doing business with the company, as it will appear as though the business is giving the customer something for free. A very important rule of business is to make the company as easy to contact as possible and one of these phone numbers truly accomplishes this.

A toll free phone number also makes your company more accessible. Calling someone on the phone always yields better results than other forms of communication because the results are immediate. If someone has to wait for an email response to a question, he or she will be likely to simply move on and purchase a similar product or service from someone else. Opening up the lines of communication allows for any customer questions to be answered immediately, which will provide them with all of the information that they need before they have the chance to go elsewhere.

Many online companies currently do not have a toll free phone number set up, which gives companies that do a distinct advantage. The companies that hesitate will definitely be left behind, as they will only be reaching a fraction of the customers that they could reach otherwise. While having a toll free phone number is definitely not a necessity, it is something that has the potential to improve a company's operations significantly because of how accessible it makes company information.

Regardless of the business, a toll free number should be posted prominently on the website. Whether the number simply provides information to callers or is used for customer service, its presence boosts the company's image in the minds of visitors. The more ways a customer has to communicate with a company, the better the results will be. Click to learn more about toll free phone numbers. Not only can people reach you through your 800 number, they see it on your website, business cards, advertisements, stationary, signage, vehicles, etc.

With a level playing field, it becomes much easier to compete against the big guys in your market and gain new clients. But where to do you find affordable toll-free phone numbers?

There are a few companies that provide toll-free phone numbers for low prices, and you do not have to subscribe to a comprehensive phone service. you can stay with your current provider if you prefer and simply buy a stand-alone toll-free number.

Do some comparison shopping. Prices between carriers will vary, so there are a few things you want to look at before you buy.

1. Activation or Set-Up Fee: Watch out for hefty set-up fees. Many companies now offer very low or free set-up.

2. Monthly Fee: Many times, a monthly fee cannot be avoided, but sometimes a monthly fee can be waived if incoming calls exceed a minimum number of minutes.

3. Calling Rate: Some plans are billed per minute or other increments, like 30-seconds or 18 seconds. If you receive lots of calls that are under 1 minute, this may a factor to consider.

How Are Toll Free Numbers Obtained - How Are They Disconected And Made Available For Re-use

This brief primer describes how toll free numbers are obtained, and how toll free numbers are disconnected and returned to the spare pool.

Some Useful Definitions:

Before we begin in earnest, here are some useful definitions and background information about the toll free industry. If you already are an expert, skip ahead!

What is a Toll-Free Vanity Number?

Many companies are interested in obtaining vanity numbers. A vanity number is a toll-free number that also spells a person or company name (e.g. 888-639-2277 spells 888-NEWCARS.)

Vanity numbers such as 1-800-FLOWERS and 1-800-597-JENNY (Jenny Craig Weight Loss Centers) are major corporate assets. Numbers such as these will probably never be released to the public for re-assignment or re-use.

What is a Responsible Organization?

A Responsible Organization (Resp Org) is the entity designated to manage and administer a customer's Toll-Free records. These are often large Toll-Free service providers (e.g. Qwest, Global Crossing, Verizon, etc.)

How are Toll Free Numbers Obtained?

Toll-Free numbers are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

To keep track of which toll-free numbers are available for new customers and which numbers are already taken, a national computer database (SMS/800(TM)) holds information on each toll-free number.

Responsible Organizations, which are usually toll-free service providers, have access to the national database that contains information regarding the status of all toll-free numbers. At a high level, Toll-Free numbers may be considered available to be assigned to a customer/user or are unavailable (working) and have already been assigned (e.g. 1-800-FLOWERS).

Customers who are interested in a toll-free number usually will contact a RespOrg and work with them to acquire an available toll-free number that meets their needs.

Available numbers are often called Spare numbers. To reiterate, these Spare numbers are available on a first-come, first-served basis and can be reserved by any Resp Org.

Many of the numbers currently in the Spare pool are perfectly acceptable Toll-Free numbers but they don't spell anything particularly interesting.

How are numbers freed up?

Imagine a fictional dog obedience training company called Acme Dog Training. Acme owns the number 1-800-BAD-DOGS. The owner has decided to retire and disband the business. The owner instructs their RespOrg/Carrier (e.g. Verizon) to disconnect 1-800-BAD-DOGS.

When the RespOrg permanently disconnects a Toll-Free number, it is usually held for four months by the current carrier. In this case, 1-800-BAD-DOGS is available for other use until the carrier releases it back to the "available" pool. Calls placed to 1-800-BAD-DOGS at this point are usually treated with a tone known as a "fast-busy" or "reorder" tone.

Carriers hold the number for four months after the disconnect to ensure that recently disconnected numbers are not tossed immediately back into available spare status. The waiting period can protect new customers who may otherwise have to deal with numerous calls for the previous end user.

Advantages and Tips to a Toll Free Virtual Office

Small businesses, home-based businesses and self-employed individuals have discovered toll free virtual office systems. They are finding that there are many advantages over a static toll free number from the Bells including features, flexibility and cost. Here are just a few of the advantages as well as things to look for in a toll free virtual office provider.

SMALL BUSINESS AND SOHO ADVANTAGES

Advantage No. 1: Look Bigger.

If you want your small business to look bigger than it is, a PBX (Private Branch Exchange) with a professional main greeting and dial by name directory would help. Unfortunately, these systems cost thousands to install and even more to maintain. But you can accomplish that same professional image with a toll free virtual office for literally pennies a day.

Most toll free virtual office systems come standard with multiple extensions. If you are a one-man-band, you don't have to sound like one. Give your callers options such as; 1 for sales, 2 for billing and 3 for support. It does not matter that all extensions lead to you. Studies show that consumers perceive companies with a toll free number as being larger and more established. Give your customers the sense of security they are looking for with a toll free number of your own.

Advantage No 2. Freedom of Movement.

Break out of your brick and mortar office with a virtual office and you will free yourself up to go out and get new customers without leaving your current customers to fend for themselves. With a virtual office you can forward your calls to your office phone, home phone or even your cell phone so you never have to miss a call.

If your physical business is not in North America, but your customers are, a toll free virtual office is the perfect way to keep your business growing. You can transfer your calls anywhere in the world and even get your voicemail messages through email or an online access panel.

Got the latest bug that's going around? Telecommute. With a toll free virtual office even the receptionist can work from home. Virtual offices make it possible to transfer calls to other extensions or numbers, send people to voicemail, and manage messages online.

Having your voicemail delivered to your email is a perfect solution for busy people and email addicts. You no longer have to be by the phone to get voicemail. An added benefit is that the message, which is in a file similar those used on MP3 players, can be stored indefinitely on your computer.

Advantage 3. Cost

A PBX is way too costly for most small or home based businesses. A toll free virtual office on the other hand easily fits into even the smallest budgets. Most systems range between $10-$50, depending on the functions and features you choose. Features such as call waiting, caller ID, on hold music, call forwarding, and multiple ring-to numbers are usually costly extras with landline service. With most systems those features come standard.

FINDING THE RIGHT PROVIDER FOR YOU

Toll Free Virtual Office Tip # 1 - Go With An Established Company.

Paramount to getting new business, as well as keeping the business you have, is making sure your customers can get the information they need, whether that is from you or an automated system. You can't afford to have your calls not get through or to have dropped calls. One way to make sure you are going to have a reliable system is to go with a reliable provider. An established company will have remained in business, while others have gone by the way side, for one reason - they are good at what they do.

Toll Free Virtual Office Tip # 2 - Service Backed By a Promise

Go with a service that has a 30-day money-back guarantee, or even better a free trial. This will allow you to try out the system without worry. If you find that it doesn't suit your needs, you are free to cancel and get your money back.

Toll Free Virtual Office Tip # 3 - Toll Free Number Portability

A company that knows you are going to be happy with their service will be confident enough to offer you the opportunity to take your number with you if you are not. You can put your new toll free number on your business cards and marketing materials without worrying that you may have to change your number later.

Thousands of small and home based businesses have discovered that virtual office systems are good for their business. These systems give them a professional image, the flexibility and freedom to do business wherever they are and much more for a price that is within even the smallest budgets. It's worth it to take a look at how your business can benefit as well.

Why a Company Should Get a Toll Free Number

A toll free number is a specialized number intended to charge calls to the receiving party instead of the caller party. Also known as the 1-800 numbers, a toll free number is popular for its benefits and advantages especially when it comes to marketing and promoting a product, thus becoming an option for most businesses and salesmen. But why get a 1-800 number? What are the benefits and why is it rising in demand, not only in businesses but for personal use?

There are many reasons why people should get a toll free number. Personal reasons can include worried parents or family members acquiring a toll number to enable other family members to call any time for free. Other personal use may be to allow friends or acquaintances to call whenever needed. These free call numbers are beneficial especially in times of need.

On the other hand, if you're a business owner, then there's a lot more to a toll free number than being able to be there for a friend. For a business owner, a number is more than an open line for calls. These 1-800 numbers are specially designed for businesses, even expanding into vanity numbers or specialized numbers that spell out a word, business name or even an acronym. 1-800 numbers provide a stronger outlook on a company; giving you an established image, but also give the customers the impression that the business is striving to provide quality customer service. With a toll number beside your company name, people are attracted immediately, knowing your company is open to critics and feedback and would likely accept troubleshooting anytime.

Customers Love Toll Free Phone Numbers

Of all the things a business could do to improve upon itself, making use of a toll free phone number should be high on the priority list. From sales to support, there is no doubt that consumers prefer using these numbers when communicating with businesses.

A toll free phone number provides consumers a way to communicate with companies free of charge, regardless of the distance between them. About 40 years ago, the "800" prefix was created to allow customers to call companies free of charge, with the companies bearing the burden of any long distance tolls incurred. At the time long distance charges were much more expensive than today, as competition in the telecoms industry was non-existent. There were no long distance specials, no "free nights and weekends" promotions, and certainly no low-cost VoIP technologies. 800 numbers allowed businesses to market their products nationwide by televised advertising, radio advertising, and even printed media without worrying customers over a hefty phone bill should they decide to call up to order a product or service.

Studies show that 98% of all Americans aged 18 to 65 use toll free phone numbers, with 52% of them making more than 50 toll free calls a year. As of the year 2000, these numbers generated an astonishing $200 billion in annual sales of goods and services.

Over these short 40 years, 800 numbers have been registered at a rapid pace, with more than 8,000 being registered daily! According to SMS/800 weekly report, the current pool of numbers will be exhausted in July 2017. As a result of such popularity in usage, toll free phone numbers were expanded into the 866, 877, and 888 prefixes. Even with expansion into three more prefixes, numbers continue to be exhausted at an alarming rate. Even with the increase in Internet sales, the concept of an "800" number is so ubiquitous in the American market that going without one would be as ridiculous as going without a "dot com" domain name.

Even though long distance calls are cheaper these days than 40 years ago, 800 numbers still remain appealing. Given a choice between two companies offering the same product or service, consumers will most likely call the 800 number before a local number. Considering most consumers buy from the first company they call, it would be foolish for businesses to put themselves second for lack of a toll free number.

Although ordering products and services over the Web is rapidly gaining in popularity with consumers, many still will not place an online order unless the company appears professional and has genuine contact information. With a toll free phone number, consumers can make a quick call to verify the legitimacy of the business behind a web storefront, all free of charge.

Toll free numbers have a wide variety of uses other than receiving initial calls for placing orders. They are extremely important for pre-sales customer service and after-purchase support. Consumers can call and receive information on products through live customer service representatives or automated support systems (i.e., prompted "fax back" systems) prior to purchase. After-purchase technical support can be offered free of charge as well. Consumers appreciate 800 numbers in these cases and are more willing to wait on hold knowing they are not being charged for the call.

Toll free phone numbers give companies an extra boost in credibility and prestige, setting them apart from the competition. Consumers tend to trust companies who offer 800 numbers, as it shows they are willing to bear the cost of a phone call to make money. Even one-man companies, such as consultants or other professionals, can add credibility to their enterprise as consumers often assume toll free phone numbers are indicators of a large corporate presence.

Often times, consumers are disappointed after making a purchase when only the sales line is free and not the customer service line. These feelings of resentment are easily removed if a company makes all phone numbers, whether for new sales or after-sales support, free of charge.

Companies can dramatically cut down the amount of product returns they receive through the use of a toll free phone number as well, as offering free product support encourages customers to call in and resolve difficulties with a product specialist instead of returning products back to the retailer.

The facts are clear: toll free phone numbers are beneficial for companies and consumers alike. They add credibility and build consumer confidence. They increase sales and decrease returns. 800 numbers aid consumers before, during, and after a purchase is made and are therefore a source of consumer satisfaction. Toll Free Phone Numbers - 5 Companies That Must Have One

Toll free phone numbers are synonymous with business success. They are almost taken for granted by customers these days, as any major company wouldn't be taken seriously without one. Most companies are going to benefit from having a toll free phone number. However, there are some companies that will benefit the most.

  1. Companies that want to enhance their company image - Toll free phone numbers provide instant credibility to a company, giving the appearance of being large and established regardless of the company's actual circumstances. Even though these numbers are relatively easy to acquire these days, in their earlier days they were only available to the largest, most prestigious of companies. This belief still remains deeply lodged in the psyche of most consumers regardless of the reality that even a one-man operation can obtain one. Companies can use this to their benefit, as consumers want to use a business they can trust.
  2. Companies that want to increase their customer base - Toll free phone numbers get a company remembered, especially when they are vanity numbers. Companies with numbers like 1-800-FLOWERS and 1-800-GO-FEDEX are numbers that are not easily forgotten. Companies with numbers that are easily memorized will be the first to be remembered when it comes time to purchase. This leads to an increased response rate, both for orders and pre-sales questions. Given the choice between calling two companies, customers will most likely call the company with a toll free phone number first. As most customers buying from the first company they call, this leaves any company without a toll free number immediately at a disadvantage.
  3. Businesses with customers that demand added convenience - Having a toll free phone number saves time and reduces problems. Toll free phone numbers can be routed to any phone, without callers knowing the difference. They provide "number portability," meaning that a company is free to move anywhere, switching providers while preserving the same number. This convenience preserves branding a company builds with a particular phone number. Businesses do not have to change business cards and other marketing material because of phone number changes.
  4. Businesses requiring improved customer service - Having to call a long distance number for customer service ranks as one of the top complaints consumers have with companies. Companies offering a toll free phone number show their commitment to customer service, especially when the customer does not have to pay for it. Nothing annoys customers more than having to call a long distance number for support on defects, missing components, or other problems immediately after purchase. Toll free phone numbers provide customer satisfaction, knowing that in the event of a problem, regardless if it is the company's fault or that of the consumer, the consumer can be put at ease knowing they don't have to pay for the call. This is especially comforting when the consumer is placed on hold.
  5. Companies that want to increase revenue - Companies exist to make money. Toll free phone numbers are key to achieving this goal, increasing order size, decreasing returns, and encouraging repeat business. Consumers spend more when speaking to a customer service representative on the phone. Even when customers place orders online, they are more likely to have previously spoken to a customer service representative by phone that provided reasons to purchase from their company, perhaps even encouraging them to purchase additional products. Toll free numbers make it easy for consumers to contact a company for pre-sales assistance that often leads to increased order size. Without a free and easy way to get support, consumers resort immediately to returning the product for a refund. In many cases, there is just a small misunderstanding that could be cleared up in a few minutes over the phone. A free number is all that it takes to significantly decrease product returns, which then equates to increased profits. Consumers tend to stick with what works. If a company delivers a good product backed by excellent free support, consumers will keep coming back. Repeat business is always good for any company's bottom line.

With benefits like increased profits, improved customer service, and a greater overall company image, it would seem as though every could benefit from a toll free number. The question should no longer be "What are the top five companies that need a toll-free phone number?" but "What companies couldn't benefit from one?" The answer to this question would almost certainly be close to none. Click to learn more about using a toll free phone number in your business. 7 Best Practices When Using a Vanity Number

Make it easy to remember
Consumers are so busy with their own lives and careers, that they need any help they can get when it comes to making purchases. Even something like a vanity number should be easy to remember. To increase the amount of calls you get through a print or television advertisement, it's always wise to create a memorable vanity number.

By creating a simple way for people to connect with your service, they are more likely to call you. A catchy toll free number in a commercial, Internet banner or print ad, stays with a consumer long after he sees it.

In a tight economy radio commercials are a good way to get your brand noticed. They are much more economical than TV commercials but the right spot can encourage quite a bit of business. Just be careful, if your number is not remembered quickly and easily, then you might as well have thrown that money away.

Communicate what you do
Choose the right vanity number for your particular business. An effective number will possess the signature letters that sets your company apart from the rest.

For example an organic pet food company should work in the important key words representing their main service. Something like 1-800-PETCHEF uniquely symbolizes the fact that the company serves pets with homespun, wholesome food.

More than just a number
When you think of vanity numbers, think branding. Branding is a key concept in how you market your company. It's all about name recognition. Whether it's a logo, sign, symbol or vanity number, these vital details help consumers identify one company from the next.

The results that branding can accomplish are:
o Branding sends your message clearly
o Connects your target prospects emotionally
o Motivates the customer or client
o Brings about user loyalty
o Backs up your credibility

Branding through a special phone number is all about getting your prospects to see you as the only one to call for service. You want to be the go-to phone number for whatever business you're in from flowers to car insurance.

Harness the power of shared usage
Rely on a search tool to help you peruse toll free databases. See what numbers are available for shared usage or that you can fully secure for your business. Searching for a vanity number is easy. You can search by looking up a special word or through a specific industry.

Check what numbers are available
Check with a toll free number system to see if the one you want is even available. This will point you in the right direction. Even if the letters you have in mind are not available, you can devise other, more creative wording, to symbolize your business and get customers dialing.

Numeric vs. letters
Decide if you want a combination of letters and numbers for your toll free digits. Sometimes numeric numbers are more ideal for some businesses or industries. Take for instance a business that has a wide foreign language audience. The consumers will not recognize some letters, but the numeric-based toll-free numbers are far-reaching.

Go with a combo deal. This way your choices are pretty wide open. A numeric and text vanity number is highly effective for many companies. For example, if you cannot get 1-800-COFFEES, 1-800-555-JAVA works just as well, if not better. It's catchy, precise and different.

Consider a matching domain name
Along with your special phone digits or letters, you can uniquely target even more consumers by matching it to your web address. Pairing a successful toll free number with a domain name equals more exposure.
